My wife and I had a long experience with Mary Opfer; we sold a townhome in Algonquin, and actually put it up for sale in 2012 (with her as our realtor) when the market was really slow. When it didn't sell in two months, Mary found some superb renters for us, and they ended up renting the property for five years. During that time, she acted as property manager for us, since we moved out of state. She was always prompt and professional in that role. When the renters finally decided to purchase their own home, we once again asked Mary to be our realtor.
We didn't know Mary when we first contracted with her. We found her on a find-a-realtor website, and I remember that she was one of only three that took the time to customize her response to our situation. Mary helped my family several times over a span of 6 years.
During the collapse of the housing market, Mary helped us navigate the challenging waters of a short sale. She provided us with access to quality people to help with repairs and she connected us with legal counsel. During that process, she also canvased the area for us to search for an appropriate rental property. We had a 4-month-old and a 1.5-year-old. She was patient as we brought our kids in tow and looked through rental after rental.
